On the road for 50 years to boost morale
in the most moral army in the world

There is hardly a person who expresses the continuity of Israeli terrorism from the Nakba in 1948 to the present day as authentically as 95-year-old Ezra Yachin.
The following quote from him is taken from the forthcoming book „South Africa’s Lawsuit Against the State of Israel“, which documents South Africa’s lawsuit, the oral hearings between South Africa and Israel and the court’s decision on the provisional measures.
The subject of the presentation by the South African representative Tembeka Ngcukaitobi was „Genocidal intent“. In this context, it was necessary to demonstrate how public statements by decision-makers and others in Israel indicate an intention to commit genocide. In the Genocide Convention, the participating states have also undertaken to prevent and punish propaganda that favours genocide (Art. III, 3. Direct and public incitement to commit genocide).
Lawyer Ngcukaitobi quoted the following statement by Ezra Yachin:
„Be victorious and put an end to them and leave no one behind. Erase their memory. Erase them, their families, mothers and children. These animals must no longer live … If you have an Arab neighbour, don’t wait, go to his house and shoot him … We plan to invade, not like before, we want to advance and destroy what is in front of us, and eliminate houses, then destroy the next one. With all our forces, complete destruction, invasion and destruction. As you can see, we will experience things we never dreamed of. Let’s drop bombs on them and wipe them out.“
Ezra Yachin is veteran of Israel’s War of Independence (1947-1948), Ezra Yachin was a member of the radical Zionist, paramilitary and terrorist underground organisation Lechi/Lehi during the British Mandate. As a Lechi fighter, he was involved in the massacre in the village of Deir Yassin near Jerusalem (9 April 1948), with at least 107 Palestinian-Arab villagers as victims, including women and children. Deir Yassin is the best known and probably also the best documented massacre with over 100 dead (there were around 20 of this number). In a 2020 interview, Ezra Yachin claimed that the dead women and children were actually fighters.
The veteran has apparently been used for decades to raise morale in the „most humane army in the world“ (according to former Prime Minister Begin). Yachin’s activities have been criticised. The left-wing Meretz party tried to have his lectures banned. People with these kinds of „strong patriotic views“ should not speak to young soldiers. That was in 2002. 2018, the Israeli army honoured Ezra Yachin with a promotion to „first sergeant“ for more than 9,000 lectures to soldiers in 50 years.
In Germany, the BILD newspaper tried to publicise Ezra Yachin’s work to strengthen morale:
